Deionte Thompson, a safety who plays professionally in football, is a free agent. While playing football at West Orange-Stark High School, he recorded 15 interceptions.

He committed to the University of Alabama in order to play collegiate football. He played in football games for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2015 to 2018.

After redshirting his first season at Alabama, he participated in 14 games as a redshirt freshman in 2016, recording nine tackles.

As a sophomore in 2017, he played in 14 games and made two starts. He had 25 total tackles and one interception toward the end. He started all 14 of his games as a starter in 2018.

As a junior in college, he was named by Walter Camp and the FWAA as the second-team All-America.

He was also named to the Sports Illustrated first-team All-America squad, the All-SEC first team by the league’s coaches, and the Associated Press second team.

After the 2018 season, Thompson made the decision to forego his senior year in order to focus on an NFL career.

In the 2019 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals chose Thompson in the fifth round (139th overall). During his first season in the league, Thompson played in 11 games and had 18 tackles.
