26-year-old Dennis Anfernee Santana Sánchez was born on April 12, 1996, he is a Dominican pitcher for the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball.
He formerly played in Major League Baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Santana signed as an international free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers in March 2013.
Santana began the 2017 season with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes before being promoted to the Tulsa Drillers later in the season. In 24 games for the two clubs, he went 8–7 with a 4.11 ERA (21 starts).
On November 20, 2017, he was added to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster. He began the season with Tulsa before being promoted to the AAA Oklahoma City Dodgers in May.
In his debut with them, he struck out 11 batters in six scoreless innings, earning him the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors.
The Dodgers promoted Santana to the majors for the first time on May 30, 2018, and he made his debut on June 1, picking up the victory in relief after surrendering five runs on six hits in 32⁄3 innings against the Colorado Rockies.
In his debut major league at-bat, he also smashed a two-run double. He was set to make his first major league start on June 7 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he strained his right rotator cuff while warming up in the bullpen before the game and was placed on the injured list for the rest of the season.
