Desmond Ridder is the Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback in the National Football League. He is 1.91 m tall and 94 kg in weight. He attended Holy Family Parochial and played football there before attending St. Xavier High School. He played collegiate football for the Cincinnati Bearcats squad at the University of Cincinnati.

As a redshirt freshman, he started as quarterback for the Bearcats after redshirting his true freshman season. Over the course of the season, he accumulated 2,445 yards throwing and 583 yards of rushing yards, along with five touchdowns. The American Athletic Conference (AAC) named him Rookie of the Year.

He completed 179 of 325 throws for 2,164 yards and 18 touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore. He was selected as the 2020 Birmingham Bowl’s MVP after completing 14 of 24 passes for 95 yards and one touchdown. Following back-to-back victories for offensive player of the year in the AAC, he led Cincinnati to the College Football Playoff in his last season.

The Bearcats enjoyed a perfect 26-0 record at home, and he finished his career at Cincinnati with the third-most victories by a quarterback in college football history (44). At the third-round pick (74th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Ridder. As a quarterback, he was selected with the second overall pick.
