He finished fourth with 1,632 rushing yards and led all Division I FBS players in scoring with 162 points (27 touchdowns) in the 2017 regular season. Additionally, he broke the Florida Atlantic single-season rushing yardage record. He was also chosen as a Doak Walker Award semifinalist.

Singletary gained an extra 164 yards and three touchdowns on the ground against North Texas on December 2, 2017, in the Conference USA championship game. The following season, Singletary amassed 1,348 running yards on 261 attempts, leading to 22 touchdowns. Sporting News recognized him as a second-team All-American for his efforts.

Singletary finished his collegiate career as the sixth-most prolific runner in FBS history and declared on December 12 that he would be entering the 2019 NFL Draft.
