Devin Williams received both the Trevor Hoffman Award for outstanding bullpen pitcher in the National League and the 2020 National League Rookie of the Year Award.

Amazingly, Josh Hader served as the closer for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2020, not him.

When it came time to hand out postseason awards, he cleaned house since he performed so brilliantly in a setup role, with an ERA of 0.33 in 27 innings, allowing just 8 hits and striking out 53 against 9 walks.

He had a 4-1 record but no saves. The season was cut short to 60 games due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and the low number of innings he pitched was due to this; however, they were just double what he pitched over the final two months of 2019 campaign after making his debut on August 7th.

He was absent both seasons from the postseason.

He played his first full season in the majors in 2021, and despite not being as untouchable as he had been in his rookie year, he still performed admirably, going 8-2 with a 2.50 ERA in 58 games.

In 54 innings, he struck out 87 batters, earning his first three career saves.

The Brewers made it to the postseason for the fourth consecutive year, but Devin shattered his pitching hand on September 26 while celebrating with the team in the clubhouse, keeping him out of the postseason.

He allegedly drank too much before punching a wall. He did not immediately recognize the full amount of the damage, but a few days later when he felt pain while trying to throw, he had x-rays, which led to emergency surgery.

He could have returned if the Brewers had advanced far enough in the playoffs, but that didn’t happen because his absence contributed to their Division Series loss to the Atlanta Braves.
