Who Are The Kansas City Chiefs?

The Kansas City Chiefs are an American football team headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. The Kansas City Chiefs compete in the American Football Conference (AFC) West division of the National Football League (NFL).

The franchise was created in 1959 by industrialist Lamar Hunt as the Dallas Texans and was a pioneer member of the American Football League (AFL).

The team relocated to Kansas City in the spring of 1963 and adopted its current moniker. The Chiefs entered the NFL as a result of the 1970 merger, and the team is worth more than $2 billion.

Clark Hunt, the son of Hunt, serves as chairman and CEO. Clark is the operations leader of the organization; he represents the Chiefs at all league meetings and has final power over personnel changes, whereas the elder Hunt’s ownership shares transferred to his widow and children upon his death in 2006.
