Tavon Wesley Austin, a wide receiver for the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills, was born on March 15, 1990. (NFL). At West Virginia, where he played collegiate football, he twice earned All-American recognition.

In the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams selected him. Maryland’s Baltimore is where Austin was born. He played basketball, football, and track at Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland.

In football, he played running back, helping Dunbar High to three consecutive Class 1A state titles. He ran for 2,660 yards on 218 attempts and scored 34 touchdowns as a senior. He also returned 12 punts for 446 yards and two more scores.



Austin played for the West Virginia Mountaineers football team from 2009 through 2012 after accepting a scholarship from West Virginia University.

As a freshman in 2009, his primary role was switched to wide receiver, but he was still infrequently used as a running back.

The St. Louis Rams selected Austin in the eighth overall slot of the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. The Rams acquired Austin by moving up from pick 16 with the Buffalo Bills.

With the 92nd overall pick in the third round of the draft, the Rams also selected former West Virginia wide receiver Stedman Bailey, reuniting the former teammates in the National Football League.

On June 2, 2022, Austin signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills.
