On July 21, the Yankees promoted him to the major leagues, but he was optioned back to Double-A after only a few hours. Between Staten Island and Scranton, he concluded the season with a 3–3 record and a 2.99 ERA.

 

On August 23, 2019, the Yankees announced Acevedo’s release. On August 26, he re-signed with a minor league team.



 

Between Scranton and Trenton, he had an 8–1 record and a 4.35 ERA in 51+223 innings pitched.

Due to the termination of the minor league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Acevedo did not play in any games in 2020. He chose free agency on November 2, 2020.

Acevedo signed a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics on November 16, 2020. To begin the season, he was assigned to the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators, where he pitched 16+13 innings with a 2.76 ERA and 27 strikeouts.

Acevedo was promoted to the major leagues on June 21, 2021, after being selected to the 40-man roster. That day, he made his MLB debut against the Texas Rangers, pitching a scoreless inning of relief.

He also got his first career strikeout in the game, striking out Rangers baseman Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Acevedo had an ERA of 9.00 in three innings for Oakland, with three strikeouts. The A’s designated him for assignment on July 30. He was released the next day.
