Drew Strotman was selected in the fourth round of the 2017 amateur draft out of California’s Saint Mary’s College. During his time in the Rays organization, he sat out the whole 2020 season due to the Coronavirus outbreak that shut down the minor levels.

At the beginning of the 2021 season, he was playing for the Durham Bulls of the Triple-A East. The Hudson Valley Renegades of the New York-Penn League utilized him completely as a starter, except for two relief appearances in his rookie season.

On the other hand, an injury in 2019 limited him to just nine appearances and 24 innings of work in the minor leagues, including four rehabilitation appearances with the GCL Rays.

DH Nelson Cruz and P Calvin Faucher were moved to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for P Joe Ryan, who was competing for the United States in the Tokyo Olympic Games at the time of the transaction.

While playing in the same league as Durham, he went 10-5 and earned 5.29 in 25 appearances with the St. Paul Saints. He began the new year at St. Paul in 2022. The first eight appearances in which he was employed as a reliever were plagued with a 9.49 earned run average.
