Durham Smythe is an American football tight end who currently plays for the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League. Smythe was born on August 9, 1995.

He attended Notre Dame for his collegiate years and played football there. Belton High School was where Smythe received his education and participated in his high school football activities.

Smythe received his education at Notre Dame, where he also participated in collegiate football. Over the course of four years, he finished with a total of 28 catches, 381 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.

Smythe was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Dolphins used the pick they received from Cleveland in exchange for Jarvis Landry to choose Smythe. The overall selection was 123rd.

He played his first game in the National Football League against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 of the 2018 season.  During the game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12, he grabbed the first two receptions of his career.

During the 2018 campaign, he finished with a total of six receptions and 50 yards receiving. Smythe participated in all 16 games played during the 2019 season, starting 14 of those contests.

At the end of the game, he finished with seven receptions and 65 yards receiving. It was during Week 6 of the 2020 season against the New York Jets that he scored his first touchdown as a professional on a reception that went for four yards.
