Edward Cabrera is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021.
In July of 2015, Cabrera became a member of the Miami Marlins organization after signing a contract as an international free agent. In his first season with the Gulf Coast Marlins in 2016, he pitched a total of 47 innings and had a record of 2–6 with a 4.21 earned run average.
In 2017, he pitched for the Batavia Muckdogs and had a record of 1-3 with an earned run average of 5.30 over 13 games (six starts). In 2018, he played for the Greensboro Grasshoppers and had a record of 4-8 with an earned run average of 4.22 across 22 starts.
After beginning the 2019 season with the Jupiter Hammerheads, where he was named to the Florida State League All-Star team, Cabrera was promoted to play for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
Over the course of 19 starts for both clubs, Cabrera compiled a 9–4 record with a 2.23 earned run average and 116 strikeouts while pitching 96 2/3 innings. After the conclusion of the 2019 campaign, the Marlins decided to include Cabrera on their 40-man roster.
Because of the widespread COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, the minor league season had to be canceled, so Cabrera did not get a chance to play in any games that year. Cabrera was put on the active roster for the first time on August 21, 2021, the same day he made his Major League Baseball debut.
