Eli Ankou is a Canadian defensive tackle who plays for the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills. On June 8, 1994, in Ottawa, Canada, Adolphe Ankou and Nicole Bellefeuille welcomed him into the world. He went to Red Lion Christian Academy and St. Peter Catholic High School, where he played strong side defensive end. He signed up for the UCLA Bruins football team on a football scholarship to play in college.
After the 2017 NFL Draft in May, the Houston Texans signed him as an undrafted free agent. On September 2, 2017, the Texans released him. The Jacksonville Jaguars picked him up off waivers in September 2017. In October 2019, the Cleveland Browns acquired him off the practice squad of the Jaguars. In September 2020, the Browns released him. He was picked up off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts in the same month. He made a commitment to play with the Buffalo Bills in June 2021.
He was released on August 15, 2021, and on August 18 he signed with the Atlanta Falcons. He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad in October 2021. He was added to the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad in October of that same year. He joined the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad in November 2021. His pledge was accepted by the Bills on February 7, 2022.
