Elías Diaz, full name Elias David Díaz Soto happens to be a professional baseball catcher with the Colorado Rockies baseball team of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has a height of 1.85 m and weighs 101 kg.
He was born and raised in Maracaibo in Venezuela to parents Ana Soto and Porfirio Díaz. He was born on November 17, 1990. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international free agent in 2008. He made his professional debut in 2019 with the Venezuelan Summer League Pirates.
Elias played for the Gulf Coast Pirates, the West Virginia Power and the Bradenton Marauders from the 2010 season to the 2013 minor league season. He was assigned to spend the 2014 season with the Double-A Altoona Curve and was later promoted during the season to play for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.
The Pirates added him to their 40-man roster before the start of the 2015 season. Elias was promoted to the major leagues by the Pirates in September 2015 and he made his MLB debut for the Pirates’ on September 12, 2015. He became a free agent in December 2019.
The Colorado Rockies signed him on a minor league contract in January 2020. They added him to their Opening Day roster and also to their 40-man roster in July 2020. The Rockies and Elias agreed to a three-year contract extension in November 2021.
