Elvin Rodriguez is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022. He previously played for Los Angeles Angeles.
On July 4, 2014, Rodrguez signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels after becoming an unrestricted free agent.
He made his major league debut with the DSL Angels in 2015, going 0–6 with a 4.59 ERA in 51 innings for the team. He played for the DSL and AZL Angels during the 2016 season, going 4–2 with a 1.53 ERA in 58+2/3 innings of work.
In 2017, he played for the Orem Owlz and the Burlington Bees, going 5-3 with a 2.91 ERA in 68 innings totaled between the two teams.
In the Pioneer League, he was recognized as the best pitcher. As part of the Justin Upton deal on September 15, 2017, the Detroit Tigers acquired Rodrguez as the PTBNL.
This past season, Rodriguez appeared in 113 innings for the West Michigan Whitecaps, going 8-7 with a 3.34 ERA. With the Lakeland Flying Tigers, he compiled a record of 11-9 with a 3.77 ERA in 135+2/3 innings of work in 2019.
Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Minor League Baseball season was canceled in 2020, and he was unable to play. Thereafter, the Tigers purchased Rodrguez’s contract on November 8th, 2021. He was then added to the team’s 40-man roster.
