He played for the Tacoma Rainers and the Jackson Generals in the 2016 minor league season. On May 2, 2017, the Mariners signed him to a contract and promoted him to the major leagues. On May 3, 2017, he played in his first Major League Baseball game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He was traded to the Oakland Athletics in November 2017.

The Athletics traded him to the Tampa Bay Rays in December 2018. In February 2020, the San Diego Padres acquired his contract from the Rays. He was also acquired by the Minnesota Twins from the San Diego Padres in April 2022.
