Who Is Eric Haase?

Eric Michael Haase is a Major League Baseball catcher for the Detroit Tigers in the United States. In 2018, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the Cleveland Indians.



Don and Lori Haase raised Haase in Detroit, Michigan, where he was born on December 18, 1992. He grew up in Westland, a Detroit suburb, where he used to practice baseball.

Haase’s father turned a 12-car pole barn into a practice batting cage so that his son could hit balls and improve his power.



Haase and his family were big fans of Major League Baseball’s Detroit Tigers, and catcher Lance Parrish was his favorite player as a kid.

Haase did not make the varsity team his freshman year at Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Michigan, but he was added to the roster after Divine Child advanced to the state playoffs.

Haase won his first state high school baseball championship that year, while largely serving as a courtesy runner. As a junior in 2010, he won another state championship with Divine Child, this time as a third baseman.

He hit .454 with eight home runs, 15 doubles, and 47 runs batted in that year (RBI). Haase was selected Gatorade’s High School Baseball Player of the Year for the state of Michigan during his senior year.

In 2011, he was crowned Mr. Baseball in Michigan after hitting.495 with 14 home runs and 54 RBI.

Haase has three children with his wife, Maria.
