Erik Donald Swanson is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Seattle Mariners. In 2019, he made his MLB debut.

Swanson went to Mariemont High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and played in the same league as Madeira High School’s Andrew Benintendi. 

Later, he attended Wabash Valley College and Iowa Western Community College, where he played college baseball.



Swanson was traded to the New York Yankees on August 1, 2016, along with Dillon Tate and Nick Green, for Carlos Beltrán. That season, he played for the Charleston RiverDogs.

Between the two organizations, he was 6–5 with a 3.46 ERA in 24 games (17 starts). He started 2018 with the Trenton Thunder after spending 2017 with the Tampa Yankees, where he went 7–3 with a 3.95 ERA in 20 starts. 

During the year, he rehabbed with the Staten Island Yankees before being promoted to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in May. He went 8–2 with a 2.66 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in 24 games (22 starts) with the three teams.

Swanson, Justus Sheffield, and Dom Thompson-Williams were traded to the Seattle Mariners on November 19, 2018, for James Paxton. The next day, the Mariners added him to their 40-man roster.

Swanson began the 2019 season with the Tacoma Rainiers, where he went 0–1 with a 5.55 ERA in four starts.

On April 9, 2019, he was called up to the big leagues for the first time. On April 11, 2019, he made his big league debut. He went 1–5 with a 5.74 ERA in 2019.

He was 0–2 with a 12.91 ERA in 2020.
