Garrett Richards is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres, and Boston Red Sox.

Richards was a four-year letter winner at Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond, Oklahoma.

In 2005, he had a record of 8–5 with a 2.97 ERA and 106 strikeouts, which was his finest season. Both years, the team took home regional titles.

Richards went to the University of Oklahoma and played college baseball for the Oklahoma Sooners, despite being undrafted out of high school.

In 2007, as a rookie, he had nine saves, which ranked him fourth all-time on the squad. He was a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Cotuit Kettleers during that season.

During the 2008-2009 season, he made his collegiate debut. He was a member of the Alaska Baseball League’s Mat-Su Miners during the summer.

When Richards started every game in 2009, he led the team in both strikeouts (85) and victories (14). (9).
