Garrett Richards is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres, and Boston Red Sox.

Richards was called up to replace the suspended Jered Weaver in the rotation. Richards made his major league debut with a loss to the New York Yankees, surrendering six earned runs in five innings of work.

After the game, he had an ERA of 10.80. In 2011, he appeared in seven games, starting three, and had a 5.79 ERA in those appearances.



Richards was 5–2 with a 4.31 ERA in 10 starts with the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees, in 2012, striking out 48 and walking 29.

As a replacement for Jered Weaver who was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Angels on June 5, 2012, he won his first major league game against the Seattle Mariners by allowing only one earned run in a seven-inning performance.

Richards had a 4–3 record and a 4.69 ERA in 30 games (9 starts) in 2012.
