American football guard Gregory Van Roten plays for the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills. At the age of 11, Van Roten began playing football with the Baldwin Bombers youth team. From 2005 until 2008, he attended Mineola, New York’s Chaminade High School. He participated in collegiate football for the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Quakers squad.
At Pennsylvania from 2008 to 2012, Van Roten was a tackle who made the Ivy League All-Conference team. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics with a Concentration in Marketing while attending the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Van Roten participated in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity while attending Penn.
The Green Bay Packers hired Van Roten in July 2012. From 2012 to 2013, he participated in ten games for the Packers. In February 2014, the Packers released him. On February 14, 2014, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks, then on August 27, 2014, the team dismissed him. He joined the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts in May 2015.
He joined the Jacksonville Jaguars in February 2017 and was released in May 2017. He signed with the Carolina Panthers in July 2017 before agreeing to a three-year deal with the New York Jets in April 2020. He was released by the Jets in May 2022. In June, he agreed to a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills.
