Football guard, Gregory Van Roten plays for the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills. At the age of 11, Van Roten began participating in youth football with the Baldwin Bombers. From 2005 until 2008, he attended Mineola, New York’s Chaminade High School. For the Penn Quakers of the University of Pennsylvania, he participated in collegiate football.
At Pennsylvania from 2008 to 2012, Van Roten was a tackle who made the Ivy League All-Conference team. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Economics with a Concentration in Marketing from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Van Roten participated in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity while a student at Penn.
Van Roten was hired by the Green Bay Packers in July 2012. Between 2012 and 2013, he played in ten games for the Packers. The Packers fired him in February 2014. On February 14, 2014, he signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks, who later released him on August 27. He signed a contract with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts in May 2015.
He signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in February 2017 and was released in May. He signed with the Carolina Panthers in July 2017 and in April 2020, he inked a three-year deal with the New York Jets. The Jets let him go in May 2022. He committed to the Buffalo Bills in June on a one-year contract.
