Ha-Seong Kim is a 26-year-old South Korean professional baseball shortstop for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball. He was born on October 17, 1995. The Nexen Heroes selected Kim 29th overall in the 2014 Korea Baseball Organization Draft.

In May 2014, he made his KBO debut with the Heroes, and in 2018 and 2019, he earned the Golden Glove Award. Kim signed with the San Diego Padres in December 2020.

Kim signed a four-year, $28 million deal with the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball on December 31, 2020, which included a mutual option for the 2025 season.



On April 1, 2021, Kim made his major league debut. He pinch-hit for Emilio Pagán and struck out against Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Alex Young.

On April 10, 2021, Kim blasted his first MLB home run in a 7-4 victory over the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas.

Kim smashed a two-run home ball in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Padres to a 7-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on June 19, 2021, after the Padres lost their key player Fernando Tatis Jr. to a probable injury.

After Tatis was placed on the injured list in late July 2021, Kim gained more playing time at shortstop for the Padres.

In his first game stepping in for Tatis at shortstop on August 1, 2021, Kim blasted a home run and drove in a career-high three runs.

Kim concluded the 2021 season with a batting average of. In 117 games, he hit 202 batters with 8 home runs, 34 RBIs, and 6 stolen bases.
