Harvey Langi’s agent, Kenny Zuckerman, said on Friday that a contract extension had been reached between the Pats and the linebacker.
According to reports, Langi’s contract is for one year and is for a sum that is close to the veteran’s minimum for a player of Langi’s caliber. Official confirmation of the contract’s specifics is pending, though.
In the offseason of 2021, Langi came back to New England for his second stint with the Patriots. Langi suffered an MCL injury during the Patriots’ Week Seven victory against the New York Jets and left the game early.
To start the 21-day return window, Langi did return to practice, but he was not activated. Langi had seven appearances with the Patriots in 2021, making 16 defensive rotational depth plays, playing off-the-ball, on the edge, and in run-stoppage duty, and recording two tackles.
Additionally, he has been an important member of the special teams, notably on the kicking units, where he played 98 snaps.
Langi has gloriously overcome great odds throughout his career. After making his NFL regular season debut less than a month prior, Langi and his wife Cassidy were both critically injured in a car accident.
While his wife Cassidy shattered both of her hips and several ribs, Langi sustained injuries to his head, neck, and back. Due to his injuries, Langi was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list shortly after, terminating his season.
