Arizona Diamondbacks are an American professional baseball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. The Diamondbacks compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) West division.
Expansion of the organization led to the start of regular season play in 1998 for the team. There are two stadiums where the team plays home games: Chase Field and Bank One Ballpark.
Arizona beat the New York Yankees in the 2001 World Series to become the first expansion team in major league history to win a championship in its fourth season.
