Heath Hembree is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). Listed at 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and 220 pounds (100 kg).

In his hometown of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Hembree attended Broome High School, where he participated in both baseball and football.

Broome’s all-time leading hitter and the quarterback were injured while playing football, so he didn’t pitch as a senior in 2007.

Instead, Hembree batted.320 as a designated hitter during his final season.

When Hembree first enrolled at the University of South Carolina in 2008, he only made one appearance as a pitcher during his rookie season.

His next stop was the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Spartanburg Methodist College, a junior college located in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

With an earned run average of 1.22, he compiled a 7–0 record as a sophomore transfer (ERA).

Hembree transferred to the NCAA Division I College of Charleston after getting a baseball scholarship there and played his last season of collegiate baseball there.

Additionally, he studied physical education. The San Francisco Giants selected Hembree in the 2010 MLB draft in the fifth round.
