Washington selected him in the 20th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, but he was released before the start of the 2019 season due to an injury.
That summer, Cousins tried out for the Schaumburg Boomers, an independent baseball team, and after some impressive performances, the Milwaukee Brewers discovered him and signed him to a contract.
Cousins would start his career in rookie ball before moving on to Wisconsin’s high-A level.
Cousins pitched for the Chicago Dogs, an independent baseball team, during COVID-19 to stay in baseball form while the minors were shut down.
He’d join the Crew for spring training, but he’d start the 2021 season in double-A Biloxi before being quickly promoted to triple-A Nashville.
Cousins pitched in 16 games over 17.2 innings between Biloxi and Nashville, allowing 12 hits and striking out 30 batters while posting a 2.55 ERA and 0.962 WHIP.
Cousins has pitched in seven games for the Brewers this season, all out of the bullpen.
He has only allowed one hit, no runs, three walks, and 14 strikeouts in nine innings, including nine strikeouts in his first four innings.
