Giovanny Urshela Salcedo (born October 11, 1991) is a Colombian Major League Baseball third baseman for the Minnesota Twins (MLB).
He previously spent time with the Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays, and New York Yankees.

Urshela made his MLB debut in 2015 with Cleveland. After sparingly playing for Cleveland in 2015 and 2017, he briefly played for Toronto in 2018, before being traded to the Yankees for cash considerations.

Urshela emerged as a valuable hitter for the Yankees during the 2019 season before being dealt to Minnesota prior to the 2022 season.



Urshela signed as an international free agent with the Cleveland Indians in July 2008. In 2009, he made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Indians and the Arizona League Indians.

On May 9, 2018, Cleveland sent Urshela to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash or a player to be named later. Urshela batted.233 with one home run and three RBIs in 19 games for the Blue Jays before being designated for assignment on June 26.

Urshela was traded to the New York Yankees on August 4, 2018, in exchange for cash considerations. He was assigned to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders by the Yankees.

The Yankees traded Urshela and Gary Sánchez to the Minnesota Twins on March 13, 2022, in exchange for Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Ben Rortvedt.
