Neris agreed to a two-year, $17 million deal with the Houston Astros on November 30, 2021. He earned his first victory while wearing an Astros uniform on April 12, 2022, when he defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 with a flawless eighth inning at Chase Field.

Neris, who had been on the team the longest, was the bullpen leader last year with 74 outings. He was held accountable for seven of the team’s 34 blown saves, a franchise record, of which 59 percent were thrown by pitchers no longer on the team.

As of 2022, the right-hander Neris depends on four weapons in his pitching arsenal: a four-seam fastball that averages 94 mph, a sinker that averages close to 95 mph, a splitter that averages 84 mph, and a slider that averages about 88 mph.
