Héctor Neris, a pitcher with the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball, was born in the Dominican Republic on June 14, 1989. (MLB).

Neris was born in the Dominican Republic Villa Altagracia. He graduated in 2008 from Colegio José Francisco Pea Gómez, where he participated in basketball, volleyball, and chess.
On May 28, 2010, the Philadelphia Phillies signed free agent Neris to a contract. His record as a pitcher for the Dominican Summer League Phillies was 1-1 with five saves, a 3.24 earned run average, 34 strikeouts in 41.2 innings, and a batting average against of.199.
In the 2017 World Baseball Classic, he pitched for the Dominican Republic national baseball team. Neris was the Phillies’ closer in 2017.

Neris agreed to a two-year, $17 million deal with the Houston Astros on November 30, 2021. He earned his first victory while wearing an Astros uniform on April 12, 2022, when he defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 with a flawless eighth inning at Chase Field.
Neris, who had been on the team the longest, was the bullpen leader last year with 74 outings. He was held accountable for seven of the team’s 34 blown saves, a franchise record, of which 59 percent were thrown by pitchers no longer on the team.
