He is known to have played college football at Oregon State and was known to have been drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft at the time. Hodgins was born on October 21, 1998, in San Jose, California, United States.

His college days and early days saw him exhibiting some trusting potential in the American Football League. As a freshman at Oregon State in the year 2017, he played as a starter and recorded an overall of six games where he caught 31 passes for several 275 yards and two touchdowns. In the year 2019, he was known to have recorded 86 passes for 1,171 yards and 13 touchdowns.

When we come to his professional career, he was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 207th overall of the 2020 NFL Draft. With them, he signed a four-year contract. However, his beginning moments as well as a first stint with them was hampered by injuries.
