Morris was a student at the Fulton High School in Fulton, Maryland.

As a high school student, he was picked in the 32nd round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft by the Baltimore Orioles, but he did not sign and instead played collegiate baseball at the University of South Carolina.

The Cleveland Indians selected Morris in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB draft.

Morris debuted in the NHL in 2019 with the Lake County Captains and Lynchburg Hillcats. He finished 7-4 with a 4.35 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 89 innings between the two teams in 21 games (twenty starts).

In 2020, he did not play in any minor league game because the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. He began his career with the Akron RubberDucks before being promoted to the Columbus Clippers in 2021.

Between the two organizations, he appeared in 15 games (14 starts), finishing 2-2 with a 1.62 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 61 innings.
