Tuanigamanuolepola Tagovailoa is a quarterback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. He played college football for Alabama, where he won the Maxwell and Walter Camp Awards as a sophomore and was named the Offensive MVP of the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship.
His junior season was cut short due to a hip injury; however, the Dolphins selected him as the fifth overall pick in the NFL Draft in 2020. Prior to taking over as the starter toward the conclusion of his rookie season, Tagovailoa began his career as Ryan Fitzpatrick’s backup with the Dolphins. He then became Miami’s regular starter effective in the 2021 season.
The oldest of four children in a Samoan family, Tagovailoa was born in Ewa Beach, Hawaii to Galu and Diane Tagovailoa.
