Kevin John Gausman (born January 6, 1991) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays.



He played for the Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants in the past. Gausman was an All-American pitcher for the LSU Tigers during his collegiate baseball career.

He was chosen fourth overall in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft by the Baltimore Orioles. In 2013, he debuted in the major leagues. In the year 2021, he was an All-Star.



Gausman throws four pitches, according to Statcast: a four-seam fastball at 92–98 mph (148–158 km/h), a splitter at 82–86 mph (132–138 km/h), a slider at 80–86 mph (129–138 km/h), and a changeup at 84–88 mph (135–142 km/h).

By merely bending his right leg while tucking the front foot at the level of the rear leg’s knee, he enhanced the average velocity and spin rate of his four-seam fastball in 2020 (as compared to 2019).

Gausman married Taylor North in December 2016 and has two kids with her.

Gausman grew up with the Colorado Rockies as his favorite team. Clair Gausman, a former NCAA official, is his father.
