Sean Michael Murphy (born October 4, 1994) is an Oakland Athletics Major League Baseball catcher.

Murphy played one game for the Arizona League Athletics before being promoted to the Vermont Lake Monsters. In 22 games with Vermont, he hit.237 with two homers and seven RBIs.

He began the season with the Stockton Ports before being moved to the Midland RockHounds in June; in 98 games with both organizations, he batted.250 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs.

In 68 games with Midland in 2018, he batted.288/.358/.498 with eight home runs and 43 RBIs.

At the end of the year, he also made three appearances for the Nashville Sounds. He started the year with the Las Vegas Aviators, where he hit the first home run in the history of the Las Vegas Ballpark.

Murphy was promoted to the major leagues on September 1, 2019, after the Athletics picked his contract. Murphy’s first professional home run and first hit came against Jake Jewell on September 4th, in his MLB debut.

Murphy started 43 games for the A’s as catcher in 2020. With seven home runs and 14 RBI, he batted.233.

On November 7, 2021, Murphy received his first Golden Glove Award.
