How Many Walk Off Home Runs Does Gleyber Torres Have?

With Andujar, SS Didi Gregorius, and off-season signing Troy Tulowitzki all on the injured list by April 3rd, he was one of the team’s only healthy middle infielders early in 2019.

He blasted his first two home runs of the season on April 4th, leading the Yankees to an 8-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. He also had singles and doubles, and his second home run, off Mike Wright in the sixth inning, kept the Yankees in the lead.

It was his second career multi-homer game, and he had hit the same two pitchers in the first, Alex Cobb and Wright, on August 1st of the previous year.

On May 15th, he hit three home runs in a doubleheader to lead the Yankees to a 5-3 and 3-1 victory over the Orioles.

He was a one-man wrecking crew against the Birds, having blasted four two-homer games in 11 games against them, while also hitting ten long balls and going 20 for 43.

He continued his one-man demolition campaign against Baltimore in a doubleheader sweep at New Yankee Stadium on August 12th, hitting three more home runs in the two games to bring his season total to 13 home runs.

This was his highest against a single team since the divisional system began in 1969.

The previous player to hit that many against one team was fellow Yankee Roger Maris in 1961 against the Chicago White Sox, and the all-time mark of 14 was set by Yankees hero Lou Gehrig in 1936 against the Cleveland Indians.

Torres set a single-season record with five multi-homer games versus Baltimore.
