Joshua-Douglas James Naylor is a Canadian professional baseball first baseman and outfielder who currently plays for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball.
Naylor was born on June 22, 1997, in Ontario. Earlier in his career, he was a player with the San Diego Padres. In the Major League Baseball first-year player draft in 2015, the Padres selected Naylor for the 12th overall spot.
Naylor made his debut in the MLB in 2019. During the 2020 campaign, he was shipped off to Cleveland in a trade. St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary School, located in Mississauga, Ontario, was Naylor’s alma mater,
He went on to play baseball in the Premier Baseball League of Ontario with the Ontario Blue Jays (PBLO). During MLB All-Star Week, which took place at Target Field in 2014,
he was one of ten high school players who were invited to participate in the MLB Junior Select Home Run Derby. In 2015, Perfect Game placed Naylor among the top 50 available prospects for the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.
Naylor is eligible for the draft. He will play collegiate baseball for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, which is the team that he has committed to play for at Texas Tech University.
