Baseball America, Perfect Game, Collegiate Baseball, and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Preseason Pitcher of the Year selected Stanek as a pre-season All-American.

Stanek was recognized as the SEC Pitcher of the Week on March 25th. A 10-2 record, a 1.39 earned run average, 79 strikeouts, and 41 walks in 97 13 innings were his final stats as a junior.

He had a 22–8 record with a 2.55 ERA and a .216 batting average against in three years at Arkansas.



The Tampa Bay Rays selected Stanek, a highly touted prospect in the 2013 MLB Draft, with the 29th overall choice. Stanek was given a $1,758,300 signing bonus by the Rays when they signed him.

While under contract with the team, he did not throw professionally and underwent surgery on his right acetabular labrum during the 2013–14 offseason, which resulted in him being unable to play baseball at the beginning of 2014.

On May 8, 2014, he made his debut in the Class A Midwest League with the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

Stanek was promoted to the Charlotte Stone Crabs of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League by the Rays in July after a 3–4 record and 3.63 ERA with Bowling Green in June.

During the 2015 season, Stanek played for the Charlotte Railhawks before being promoted to the Class AA Montgomery Biscuits of the Southern League.

With a combined record of 8–5 and a 3.04 ERA for the two clubs, Stanek concluded the year with an impressive 2015 season.

A year later, he returned to Montgomery and eventually joined the Class AAA International League’s Durham Bulls; between the two, he had a 4–10 record with a 4.30 ERA;

He was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game for the upcoming season. After the season, the Rays included him on their 40-man roster.
