Born on August 26, 1999 (age 22 years), in Petaluma, California, United States of America, Spencer is now playing as a first baseman for the Tigers whiles wearing the number 20 jersey for the team as well.

Spencer is known to have been the first pick by the Detriot tigers during the 2020 Major League Baseball draft.

He is the son of  Rick Torkelson and Lori Torkelson. Spenser is also known to have begun his high school education at the  Casa Grande High School in Petaluma, California, where he played baseball, football and basketball.

Torkelson furthered his education in college after completing of high school at the  Arizona State University (ASU) to play college baseball for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
