Rhamondre Stevenson, who was born on February 23, 1998, plays running back for the National Football League’s New England Patriots (NFL).
He was a collegiate football standout at Oklahoma, where he also won a bowl game MVP award, and the Patriots selected him in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Stevenson spent two seasons playing at Cerritos College before moving to the University of Oklahoma.
Prior to being suspended from the 2019 Peach Bowl due to a failed drug test for marijuana in his first season at Oklahoma in 2019, he participated in the first 13 games of the season.
He ran for 515 yards on 64 carries for six touchdowns to cap off the season. Six games into the 2020 season, Stevenson served his suspension out. After gaining 186 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts, he was voted the Cotton Bowl’s MVP in 2020.
After playing sparingly through the first eight games of the season, Stevenson had a breakthrough performance against the Carolina Panthers in week 9 with 106 all-purpose yards, including a 41-yard reception on a short out-pattern that led to a Patriots touchdown before he suffered a concussion and left the game.
Damien Harris, the regular starter, missed the Cleveland Browns game the next week after suffering a concussion the week before, therefore Stevenson was appointed the starter. He ran for 100 yards, gained two touchdowns, and added 14 more on receptions as New England defeated the opposition 45-7.
Stevenson continued to be the team’s leading rusher in Week 11’s Thursday Night Football matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. He shared the load with starter Damien Harris and finished with 69 yards on 12 runs in the 25-0 victory.
He continued to play the role of the team’s backup running back to starter Harris, gaining 46 yards on nine carries in a victory over the Titans in week 13 and carrying the majority of the load in a run-heavy victory over the Bills in week 14, when the Patriots only attempted three passes and amassed 78 yards on 24 carries.
