Anthony Edward Bass (born November 1, 1987) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Miami Marlins (MLB).

He has played for the San Diego Padres, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, and Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball.

Bass has previously played for the Nippon Professional Baseball team Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters (NPB). He attended Wayne State University and played baseball there.



Bass was selected in the fifth round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Diego Padres. In 2009, he pitched for the Single-A Fort Wayne TinCaps and Advanced-A Lake Elsinore Storm before returning to Lake Elsinore in 2010.

Bass studied at Trenton High School in Trenton, Michigan, and Wayne State University, where he played college baseball for the Wayne State Warriors.

Bass was selected the 2008 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year as a junior at Wayne State. He was the highest-drafted player in Wayne State history.

Bass married Sydney Rae James, the sister of country artist Jessie James and Eric Decker’s sister-in-law, in a private wedding on August 1, 2016. On September 4, 2017, their first child was born prematurely.

In October 2020, they will adopt another daughter. Bass has two sisters and a brother. Ed and Linda Bass are known to be the famous parents of Anthony Bass.
