Is Brady Singer Injured?

Brady Singer was injured.

The focus on the second inning and right-hander Brady Singer, who left with a left heel contusion after a line ball struck him to initiate a rare double play, kept coming back to the Royals as they watched the Twins pull away late in Friday night’s series opener.

Fortunately for the Royals, following their 9-1 loss at Target Field, they received some good news.

Singer’s X-rays came back negative after a 105.5 mph line drive impacted his heel. The ball struck Singer before popping up and landing in the glove of first baseman Carlos Santana.

While the Royals finished the 1-3-6 double play, Singer slumped down on the mound and appeared to be in a lot of discomfort.

Singer eventually got up and walked away, but he went straight to the dugout tunnel to begin treatment.

Although Singer’s cleat bore the majority of the blow, the sensation in his leg was enough for manager Mike Matheny to call a timeout.

The Royals will continue to monitor Singer’s symptoms and therapy, but the right-hander stated that he doesn’t expect to miss any time between starts.

Singer was about to leave the inning due to his pitch count before the comebacker. Singer’s command got away from him in the second inning after a shutout first inning against the Twins’ top of the order.

After allowing a leadoff single and struck out Max Kepler looking, he allowed two walks to load the bases.

Singer got into a 3-0 count with Josh Donaldson before returning the liner to the mound after hitting Luis Arraez in the shoulder to bring in Minnesota’s first run. In the first inning, Singer threw 15 pitches, and in the second, he threw 33 pitches.
