Christopher James Uzomah, also known as C. J. Uzomah, is a tight end who competes for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He is 1.98 m tall and 118 kg in weight. He played quarterback when a student at North Gwinnett High School. He ran for 74 yards, passed for 168 yards, and had 168 receiving yards and one touchdown during his senior year.
He also threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for 800 yards and another 10 touchdowns as a junior while also passing for 1,750 yards and 15 scores. From 2011 through 2014, he participated in collegiate football for the Auburn Tigers football team at Auburn University.
At Auburn, where he was mostly used as a blocking tight end, he only caught 29 passes in his four seasons, but seven of them went for touchdowns. While attending Auburn, he majored in marketing. He threw a 4-yard touchdown throw in his rookie season. In the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals made him their selection.
He got a four-year, $2.49 million contract with the Bengals in May 2015, and the signing bonus was $212,762. He extended his deal with the Bengals for three years and $18 million in March 2019. All 16 of the games he started, he caught 27 passes for 242 receiving yards and two scores. He committed to the New York Jets in March 2022, agreeing to a three-year, $24 million deal.
