He was a University of Michigan student who participated in collegiate football for the Michigan Wolverines. The 57th overall pick in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft went to the Miami Dolphins, who selected Henne. With the Jacksonville Jaguars, he agreed to a two-year contract in March 2012. His two-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs was finalized in March 2018.



Henne replaced Mahomes in the game when Mahomes exited it with a concussion in the third quarter of the Chiefs’ divisional playoff game against the Cleveland Browns in January 2021. He committed to the Chiefs in March 2022 on a one-year deal.
