Is Christian Yelich White?

Christian Stephen Yelich is a Major League Baseball left fielder for the Milwaukee Brewers in the United States.



He was previously with the Miami Marlins. Yelich was drafted in the first round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Marlins.

He debuted in Major League Baseball with the Marlins in 2013 and was traded to the Brewers during the 2017-18 offseason.



In 2014, Yelich won a Gold Glove Award, the Silver Slugger Award in 2016, 2018, and 2019, and the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 2018.

Yelich graduated from Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks, California.

He batted .373 with 25 hits and 16 strikeouts in 67 at-bats during his freshman year.

He batted .341 in 91 at-bats as a sophomore, with 31 hits and 24 strikeouts.

Yelich batted .489 with 46 hits and six strikeouts during his junior season.

He batted .451 in 82 at-bats as a senior, with 37 hits, nine strikeouts, and nine home runs.

Max Preps selected him Second Team All-American and ranked him 34th among the best 100 players in the country in high school.

Yelich got a baseball scholarship to play for the Miami Hurricanes in college.

The Miami Marlins selected Yelich in the first round of the 2010 MLB draft, with the 23rd overall pick.

On August 17, just as the deadline for signing 2010 draftees was about to pass, Yelich and the Marlins agreed to a $1.7 million signing bonus.

Before being promoted to Class-A, Yelich appeared in six games with the Gulf Coast League Marlins, batting .375 with nine hits and seven strikeouts.

In 2010, he batted .348 in six games for the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

He hit .261 with 43 hits, six strikeouts, and four home runs in 2011. In both 2011 and 2012, Yelich was awarded the Marlins’ Minor League Player of the Year.
