Michael Pomeranz is a studio host and commentator for the Anaheim Ducks on Bally Sports SoCal and Bally Sports West as well as the San Diego Padres on Bally Sports San Diego.
Additionally, Pomeranz broadcasts the coaches’ shows for the SDSU Aztecs basketball team and football team on Bally Sports San Diego.
From 2006 through 2012, Pomeranz was an anchor for the weekday 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts on Minneapolis, Minnesota’s KARE-TV.
Before joining KARE, “Smilin’ Mike,” as he was affectionately known by Minnesotans, anchor and reported for WCBS-TVNew York (2000-2005).
He served as an anchor for a number of programs, starting with CBS 2 News This Morning and CBS 2 News at Noon. Pomeranz also served as an anchor for the weekday noon and 6 o’clock newscasts and weekend evening newscasts.
When the World Trade Center collapsed on September 11, 2001, Pomeranz was broadcasting live at the time, and his station was the only network affiliate that was unaffected.
As a reporter and anchor in Chicago, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Colorado Springs, Colorado, he started his television career in 1994.
Pomeranz received his degree from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. For his work both locally and nationally, he has received numerous honors, including an RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Award for his reporting.
Prior to entering the journalism business, Pomeranz pitched in the minor leagues of baseball from 1988 until a shoulder injury in 1992 ended his career. In 88 games pitched, he had a record of 9 wins and 18 losses with a 4.72 earned run average.
Pomeranz made the announcement that he was leaving KARE and joining Fox Sports San Diego on February 27, 2012. (now Bally Sports San Diego).
Along with former first baseman Mark Sweeney, he anchors the Padres Live pre-and post-game show, and he occasionally filled in for the late Dick Enberg on the play-by-play of games.

Despite having the same first name as Drew Pomeranz’s father, who was also a former collegiate baseball pitcher, Mike Pomeranz is not related to Drew Pomeranz.
