Charles Forrest Whitley is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros in the United States.
Whitley went to San Antonio’s Alamo Heights High School.

He was a member of the 18U National Team that won the World Cup the summer before his senior year. During his senior year, Whitley threw a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts in a contest.

Whitley was taken 17th overall in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Houston Astros. He had committed to play collegiate baseball at Florida State University but instead chose to sign with the Astros.

On July 13, 2016, he was assigned to the Gulf Coast Astros of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League and was then promoted to the Rookie-level Appalachian League’s Greeneville Astros.

He had a 1-2 record and a 4.82 earned run average in 18+23 innings thrown for both teams (ERA).

Whitley began the 2017 season with the Class A Midwest League’s Quad Cities River Bandits, then was promoted to the Class A-Advanced Carolina League’s Buies Creek Astros in July and the Class AA Texas League’s Corpus Christi Hooks in August.

In total, he pitched in 23 games (18 starts) for the three organizations, compiling a 5-4 record and 2.83 ERA with 143 strikeouts in 92+13 innings worked.
