On April 20, 2022, the Cleveland Guardians activated Arias as the 29th player for their doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. Arias has been with Columbus for the first half of the 2022 season.
Arias was born on February 27, 2000, and plays for the Cleveland Guardians in Major League Baseball (MLB). At the age of 19, the Venezuelan was swiftly promoted, hitting.302/.339/.470 and leading the California League in total bases with 224. He was then sent to high-Class A.
Arias’s speed receives ordinary to good evaluations; it is more noticeable in the field than on the bases. At shortstop, where he is a plus defensively, he has good actions and instincts. He is also useful at third and second base.
He can make any throw that is required thanks to one of the Minors’ strongest arms. He has the most potential of the six guys the Indians acquired in the nine-player deal that sent Mike Clevinger to San Diego in August 2020.
In July 2016, Arias agreed to a contract with the San Diego Padres as an unrestricted foreign free agent. He participated in his first professional season in 2017 with the Arizona League Padres and Fort Wayne TinCaps.
On November 20, 2020, the Indians selected Arias’ contract, bringing him onto their 40-man roster. He played for the Triple-A Columbus Clippers during the 2021 season.
In the first game of a doubleheader on April 20, 2022, Arias made his major league debut, starting at second base.
