Jacob Bailey is a punter who plays for the New England Patriots of the National Football League in the sport of American football. He attended Stanford University and played college football for the Stanford Cardinal football team.

During his time at Stanford, Bailey had a punt that was 84 yards long, which was the longest in the school’s history. After playing for the club for four years, he punted 185 times and currently holds the record for most career punts with an average of 43.8 yards per kick. Bailey was recognized as a member of the All-Pac-12 team a total of three times and was also named to the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll on two separate occasions.

In the 2019 National Football League Draft, the New England Patriots selected Bailey in the fifth round (163rd overall).

As soon as he was added to the team, Bailey faced up against the incumbent punter, Ryan Allen, who had been playing for the Patriots for the previous six seasons. Bailey emerged victorious from the challenge, and Allen was let go by the Patriots on the 19th of August, 2019, following the conclusion of their second preseason game.

Bailey currently holds the position that Allen formerly held for the Patriots when the team is attempting field goals. Bailey took over the Patriots’ kickoff duties after the team’s previous kicker, Stephen Gostkowski, was placed on injured reserve.

In recognition of his performance in Week 3 against the New York Jets, he was awarded the title of AFC Special Teams Player of the Week on September 25, 2019. He was awarded the title of American Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for a second time after his performance in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles, in which he had five punts of 50 yards or more and six that landed within the 20-yard line.
