The answer is a big yes. Both Jason and his twin brother, Devin McCourty, excelled as defensive backs at Rutgers University and are now well-known names in the National Football League. Devin is a member of the New England Patriots, while Jason is a former member of the Tennessee Titans and is currently retired as of July 15, 2022.
Both brothers have achieved success individually in the NFL. While Devin made the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2011 and participated in the Super Bowl with the Patriots, Jason led all NFL cornerbacks in tackles this past season with the Titans.
As expected from two people who have spent their whole lives together, they have combined their charity activities.
Since Jason and Devin have experienced the tragedy of Sickle Cell in their own family, they have decided to use their platform to aid other families dealing with the disease. The siblings were overjoyed to discover Embrace Kids Foundation, a nonprofit that works to alleviate the suffering of children and families affected by Sickle Cell disease.
Devin recalled doing a blood test with his family when he was five years old to determine whether or not they possessed the trait. Since both of our aunts and uncles had Sickle Cell, that wasn’t the end of our family’s struggle with the disease.
“We were close to our aunt Winifred as kids, and we know how hard it is for her to deal with this condition every day. Seeing her determination to keep fighting in the face of adversity has inspired Jason and me to do what we can to raise awareness about this terrible disease.”
