Murray played collegiate football for Central Florida University. Murray was selected 181st overall by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was chosen as a running back in the fifteenth round of that year’s draft.

On March 13, 2019, Murray and the New Orleans Saints reached an agreement on a four-year, $14.4 million deal. Murray made his Saints debut in the tight 30-28 victory in the 2019 season opener against the Houston Texans, carrying six times for 43 yards and a 30-yard touchdown.

The Baltimore Ravens signed Murray on September 10, 2021, as a result of the injuries to J. K. Dobbins, Justice Hill, and Gus Edwards. He got 10 carries for 28 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut against the Las Vegas Raiders, but the Ravens fell short 27-33 in overtime.
