The Tigers and Goodrum agreed to a one-year, $2.1 million contract on January 15, 2021, avoiding arbitration. Goodrum batted .214 with 9 home runs, 33 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 90 games for the 2021 Tigers.

After the 2021 season, the Tigers cut Goodrum from the 40-man roster. Goodrum cleared waivers and chose free agency on November 19, 2021.

Goodrum signed a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Houston Astros on March 15, 2022.

Before being optioned to the Sugar Land Space Cowboys of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, Goodrum batted.116 in 15 games for Houston.
